Cessation of Use of Chequebook with Bank Code 7144 for Personal and Priority Banking

With effect from 19 September 2020 (inclusive), Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited (the “Bank”) will no longer operate under its former bank code, 7144. The Bank will stop processing deposited cheques with the former bank code 7144 after 18 September 2020. These cheques will be returned to the payee or beneficiary.

Since 6 March 2017, the Bank has been operating under a new bank code, 9496.

With immediate effect, all clients are advised to destroy cheque books and stop issuing cheques with the bank code 7144. There will be no impact to cheques with the new bank code, 9496.

Do note that the first cheque book issued for an applicable Standard Chartered Bank Singapore account is free of charge, and a fee of S$15 will apply for all subsequent cheque books*.

#For inactive accounts that does not have any banking transaction for 12 months from the date of the last banking transaction, please activate your account in order to request for a new cheque book.

For joint accounts that require more than 2 account holders to sign a cheque, please proceed to the branch with the relevant account holders to request for a new cheque book.

3.?Will this affect my outgoing payments?

Cheques with the former bank code, 7144, that are presented for clearing on or after 19 September 2020 will not be processed and will be returned to the payee or beneficiary.
Cheque presented for clearing before the cut-off time on 18 September 2020 will not be affected.

To ensure that your outgoing payments will not be affected, please issue cheques with the new bank code, 9496.

Cheques issued with the new bank code 9496 will not be affected.

4. Will this change impact my other transactions such as TT, GIRO and other payments?

There will be no impact to other transactions and they will continue to be processed.
